ABOUT

TLF

The Thinker Library Foundation was founded by Naryeong Kim, Crescentia Jung, and Jaemin Yoo from Korea International School (Pangyo). It was established as an NGO to ensure that children, regardless of their social, economic and legal status, have the right to education. Everyone saves a few books from their childhood–a favorite memory, a past time that they want to cherish. By receiving donations of these books, the Thinker Library Foundation seeks to create a place of imagination for underprivileged children. The Thinker Library Foundation is a nonprofit volunteer organization seeks to help immigrant children in Korea gain access to education and a place to read books. Following KIS, five other schools (DIS, SIS, GSIS, ICSU, HAFS) decided to join our cause.

To be more specific, the Thinker Library Foundation is a non-profit organization that seeks to institute public libraries in underprivileged locations in Korea. Our philosophy stems from the need of equitable access to education for all children, no matter their legal status, religion, education or financial status. With such purposes, our first objective is to found a public library in Moran, a location within South Korea that is severely underprivileged with many young children that have no access to education at all. Such reasons vary, but many children in the location have parents who are undocumented immigrants. Our future objective is to found five libraries and continue the operation of the libraries so that we are offering education to children who are severely underprivileged.
